Accessibility Statement
DE KARINA regards accessibility as a core value. We work to ensure that everyone — including people with disabilities — can browse our landing page, understand its content, and contact us easily and independently. This statement sets out the adaptations we have made, the standards the site meets, known limitations, and how to reach our accessibility coordinator.
1. Our commitment to accessibility
We believe a good business website is one that everyone can use. This landing page was designed and built with accessibility integrated at every stage of development — not as an afterthought, but as a guiding principle. We are committed to continually improving the browsing experience for all users and to fixing accessibility issues, whether known to us or brought to our attention, as quickly as possible.
This statement is provided in accordance with the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Accessibility Adaptations for Service) Regulations, 5773-2013, and the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, 5758-1998.
2. Accessibility standards
The landing page was designed to meet the following standards:
- Israeli Standard 5568 — web content accessibility, Level AA
- WCAG 2.1 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) by the W3C, Level AA
The most recent audit was carried out on 28 May 2026 and included automated testing (axe DevTools, Lighthouse) and manual testing with a keyboard and screen-reader software.
3. Adaptations implemented on the site
Built-in accessibility widget
A round accessibility button (a person icon) appears in the lower corner of the screen. Clicking it opens a menu that lets you personalise your browsing experience. Your preferences are saved locally in the browser, so you can return to the site with the same settings.
The widget includes:
- Font-size adjustment — four levels (A− small / A normal / A+ large / A++ very large)
- Contrast adjustment — normal, high contrast (black on white), and colour inversion
- Link highlighting — adds an underline and coloured background to every link on the page
- Readable font — replaces the main font with a simple system font (to assist readers with dyslexia)
- Pause animations — stops all animations and transitions on the page
- Reset — clears all preferences and reloads the page
Additional accessibility features in the code
- Automatic
prefers-reduced-motionsupport — users who have set reduced motion in their operating system see the page without animations automatically - Full keyboard navigation — every interactive element (link, button, form field) is reachable via the Tab key, activated with Enter or Space, and shows a clear focus outline
- ARIA labels — all buttons and links without visible text (such as social icons and the accessibility button) carry ARIA labels for screen readers
- Alternative text for images — every informative image carries an alt description. Decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them
- Semantic heading structure — a correct hierarchy of a single main H1 followed by H2 and H3 in a logical order
- Language and direction — this English page is marked
lang="en"anddir="ltr"at the document level, so screen readers read the content in the correct direction (the Hebrew site is markedlang="he"/dir="rtl") - Colour contrast — the primary text colour against the site's cream background exceeds a contrast ratio of 15:1, comfortably passing the 4.5:1 threshold required at Level AA
- Accessible forms — every contact-form field has an appropriate label, required fields are properly marked, and errors are shown in clear text (not by colour alone)
- Clear focus indicators — when navigating by keyboard, the active element is highlighted with a gold outline
- Relative font sizing — the site uses relative font units, so text can also be enlarged through browser settings
4. Statement date and last update
- Date of first accessibility statement: 28 May 2026
- Last updated: 28 May 2026
- Last accessibility review: 28 May 2026
We aim to review the site at least once a year and to update this statement whenever there is a significant change to the site or to the applicable standards.
5. Known accessibility limitations
In the spirit of transparency, we note the accessibility limitations known to us at the time this statement was published:
- Third-party content: some images are loaded from external image servers (Shopify CDN and the DE KARINA server). Alt descriptions are written by hand in the code, but if an external image stops working, a placeholder without a description may appear.
- Client-logo strip: the logo strip moves automatically. For users who have set reduced motion in their operating system (prefers-reduced-motion), the strip stops automatically. In addition, hovering over the strip pauses the motion.
- Emoji icons: some supporting lines use emoji icons (⏱, 🍫, ✓). Some screen readers announce them by the icon's name. The text beside them carries the essential meaning on its own, so nothing is lost.
If you encounter any other accessibility issue, please report it using the details in Section 7. We will handle every request and get back to you as quickly as possible.
6. Accessibility at the physical site
